I used the spot editor tool within Photoshop to remove any blemishes on my model’s face and to neaten up her eyebrows.
I placed the image I had taken from the third photoshoot onto a two page spread on Indesign. I then used the pen tool to outline the side of her face and drew a box, this allowed me to write right up to the side of the model’s face.
I added a space between each question however between question and answer I wanted more space then between the normal lines but less than a new paragraph so by using the character tool I made this an in between width.
The quotation “I loved him so much.” is an early try at creating quotations within the text.
I decieded to add another quotation as seen above.
After font research I changed both the main text body and the title/quotation fonts
I then tried to position my second picture within the article.
I felt that the tile looked like it was on a tilt so I used a rectangle to ensure that it was straight.
I continued to move things around to try and get them into their correct positions.
I then worked on the spacing between the columns to try and ensure that they were an equal distance apart.
This is another attempt at getting the positioning and layout correct. I was hoping to balance each feature out.
By this stage I had also made the question of each section bold as I had seen this many pieces of my research and I felt it gave the article a more broken up easier to read style.
I had also changed the additional picture so that instead of just sitting on the edge it was put amongst the text which helped to make sure that it was visibly clearly linked to that section of text.
I removed the third quotation as I felt that two was enough and the third was surplus. This also helped to balance the additional picture on the page.
I shortened the title so that I could make it bigger, I also made it bolder. The effect of bigger and bolder is that title is my eye-catching and more interesting on the page.
I changed the page number from the example number to the actual number on the contents page to ensure continuity.
I then began to move and edit the text so that no words were split over two lines.
At this point I looked back at my research and found that nearly all of the magazines I looked at featured a large letter to begin there article so I attempted to add this in, however I found that the S looked strange as it was positioned directly below another s so in favour of a better design I decieded to remove it and leave it out.
Before removing it, I moved around the text to try and fit it in, as shown below.
At this point I decieded to try and develop some of the ideas I had created in my drawings, so to do this I played around with the colour of the different pieces of text, I used the eye dropper to pick up the purple colour on the trim of my models coat to use. I used two slightly different shades of the purple. I tried matching the quotations to the title, the quotations to the footnote and so on.
I decided to change the title and quotations to my second favorite font from my font research as I thought the lines which I had thought could be interpreted as icicles now appeared to just be errors. I also decided the font should be plain black so that it was bolder. I also thought that the first quotation should be embedded into the article rather than sat at the bottom where the positioning was hard to get correctly.
At this point, I looked back at my research and found that while the title could spread across the two pages the text rarely did as then it would be harder to be read so I changed the spacing to ensure that everything could be read.
